I had two humans whose company I genuinely delight in take our Primary Motivational Gift Assessment this past week.
They came to it from VERY different places.
One has spent years developing his own framework for understanding how people naturally operate and contribute. He was curious how what I’ve developed would compare with what he already knew about himself.
He wrote:
“I was really curious how your quiz would compare to the framework I use.
I came through as a Coach in your framework, which is very comparable to how I understand myself through my own work. 🙂
While it wasn’t a game-changing experience for me, it was further confirmation of what I teach as well.”
The second is in a very different season. She’s examining much of what she has believed—including her faith—and reconsidering some of the experiences and expectations that have shaped how she understands herself.
Her first message to me was:
“I took your quiz, and I got the Judge. It surprised me bc I got 0% coaching haha.”
And then we kept talking.
Several more times over the next few days, actually.
She shared how eye-opening and weight-lifting the assessment felt as she began making connections between the result, her experiences, and things she hadn’t previously understood about herself.
(Both gave me permission to share their experiences, FYI. 😂)
I LOVED both responses- because together, they affirmed something I hoped would be true when I created this assessment:
Sometimes seeing yourself more clearly feels like revelation.
And sometimes it feels like confirmation.
For someone newer to faith, someone who may have never read the Bible
Or someone who has had negative experiences with Christianity or church (because humans will be humans and often act contrary to Jesus’ teachings while proclaiming His goodness)
OR someone who has explored personality tests, astrology, Human Design, the Enneagram, Myers-Briggs, DISC, or other ways of trying to get to know themselves better…
The Primary Motivational Gift Assessment can feel REALLY eye-opening because it sheds new light on truths found in God’s Word.
And for those who know Jesus more intimately and who have come to know themselves through Him, the assessment can act more as confirmation than revelation, providing language for something God has already been revealing.
A way of recognizing, “Yes. THAT explains something I’ve been seeing in myself for years.”
Revelation and confirmation sit on two points of a pendulum, with contemplation and exploration filling the space between each swing.
- We have our minds blown.
- We develop and explore a practice.
- We get confirmation that what we learned was true, or that something needs to be tweaked.
- We contemplate and test more.
- We get new insight.
And the cycle continues.

We also firmly believe that any tool we use to understand ourselves needs to be examined in light of God’s Word, involving the Lord and His commandments rather than placing our confidence in a framework alone.
AND we really want to go deeper underneath the tool or practice you’re using and address the deeper desire underneath it:
To know yourself.
Who you really are.
How God created you to uniquely bring more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control into the world.
And to see yourself more deeply through God’s eyes—whether you’ve experienced that revelation hundreds of times before, or you don’t even fully trust that He exists yet.
